Use the given freezing and boiling points for 11 different substances to color-code a graph showing when the substances would be a solid, liquid and gas. The add room temperature to the graph to easily tell the state of matter for each substance, as we are used to seeing it.
This physical science activity gives students a good way to compare substances and see the large differences in how they behave at different temperatures. It also gives them practice graphing temperatures, and estimating values since the intervals on the graph are so large.
A color key is also included.
