MadameJeFaisTout knows that the only way to make writing better is to have the students write a lot. But all that grading! What if student errors were coded, so that THEY had to do all the work? What if, instead of conjugating avoir for the millionth time in your career, you wrote WC and students got a handout where WC meant wrong conjugation. This way, students can grow in their writing while still making mistakes and they are the ones doing all the work. This rubric is what I use to grade French 3-Level essays, as it is a watered down version of the one I use for French 4-Level/Advanced-Placement-Level Essays (see the rubric by that name as well). If you would like a list of the codes I use when suggesting a fix, please see the product titled Error Codes rubric.
