Minute Francophone stories are based on true current events in French-speaking countries. They use as many details as possible, but include some made-up details to add to the story’s comprehensibility.
This story is based on the true story of a rumbling volcano on one of the islands of Vanuatu, in the South Pacific. This Minute Francophone is targeted at novice low students. It targets “est” and can be used with students with very little experience in French.
The files include a printable story packet with English comprehension questions, vocabulary matching, and French writing practice (5 pages); a powerpoint with images for establishing meaning (8 slides); directions (1 page); and an answer key (1 page). All files are in PDF as well as editable Microsoft Word or Powerpoint files. Please feel free to edit the story and files to meet the needs of your students, however, do not remove the copyright info.
