This is a "cheat sheet" that I created as a reference/practice for my intermediate low-level students (French 3, possibly 2 silnce it is very simple to follow).
It walks students through the two steps of conjugating a verb in the conditional--1. make the stem 2. add the ending. I make several "remember" sidebars (like "what is an infinitive") and several "good to know" sidebars (like "all conditional stems will end in 'r'"). I provide practice making regular future stems and show two examples of verbs conjugated in the conditional. I also ask students to recall the futur simple and conclude that the conditional is made the same way.
This pairs nicely with my Futur Simple "Cheat Sheet"--especially if you are preparing to teach SI CLAUSES.
In the FUTUR SIMPLE "Cheat Sheet", I list 24 irregular future stems (and I have a quizlet set if you search under my user name TLAMBERT21WT). The stems aren't listed on the conditional cheat sheet because once you learn the conditional you are already expected to have learned the futur simple.
Finally there are 9 sentences for students to practice using futur simple in context. This is a fool proof practice tool for students just starting out with the futur simple. My French 3 students comment that the conditional (as well as the futur simple) is so easy compared to other tenses and I have a 100% success rate on this handout.
This makes an excellent reference sheet for students to keep in their binders.
