Download the cards that accompany this game for free by searching for "Chance cards" I usually include 3 smileys, 2 stars, 1 sun, 2 rain clouds, and 1 ghost and 1 bomb for each game.
This game is like jeopardy but with a twist. Use it before a test or quiz. There are 25 questions that you can customize. The class is divided into two groups. Teams take turns asking for a number on the grid (great way to teach "Je voudrais"). Click the number on the slide and it will link to a question/task. Clikc the horseshoe/shamrock to return to the grid. The group may work together and must give an answer within a period of time (10 seconds). Now the twist! If correct, the team selects a card from the pile of point values. Some add points and some deduct points so it is possible to get the answer right and still lose points. I call this game "La Chance" for this reason. If a team is incorrect, however, the other team can steal and, if correct, choose a card. I take absolute value (yay math) of the card on a steal so no points can be lost. Many variations to this game. Include a "swap points with the other team" card, a "make points negative/positive" card. On a steal, maybe have the stealing team earn points if a positive-point value card is selected and give the other team a penalty if a negative point value is chosen.
You can also print out the slides as a 6-slide hand-out and give it as a study guide.
