French End of Year Game – Parlez ou Pantomime ($4.00)
1st - 2nd year French (and above), grades 6th – 10th
50 minutes - You can stop game anytime, just so teams have an equal number of turns.
This fast-paced game makes a fun year end review for French students who have just one minute to give oral clues or gestures, hoping their team can guess the six words in a category (verbs, clothing, foods, animals, professions, places, feelings, transportation, sports and more).
To play this game, divide your class into two teams, A and B. Call on a volunteer from Team A to draw a card. He or she will tell his team what the category is: Things you do on vacation. The team member giving the clues has 15 to 20 seconds to study the words to make sure he knows them. If he doesn’t know them, he can ask the teacher. When he is ready, the timer is set and he gives clues to Team A in English or the target language, depending on the language level. For French II students, you might challenge them to give the clues in French.
Clues may consist of several words or phrases and gestures can also be used to act out the word. Each team has one minute to guess the list of six words in the target language. Below is a sample vocabulary list with suggested clues in parenthesis.
Things you do on vacation - verbs
1. faire un voyage (when you take a plane or train you do this)
