Looking for a way to get your students up and moving and speaking? Here's a fun activity to use. This activity is ideal for reviewing the different members of the family and family descriptions with Novice-Level learners since it provides students a structured format to speak in the target language.
In addition to the 4x5 speaking board, this file also includes a vocabulary sheet to help review all the necessary vocabulary and a structured writing sheet for students to make sentences to then share out with the rest of the class.
Directions: Students move around the room asking each other questions and trying to find as many positive responses as possible. If a student answers a question affirmatively, the question-asker will ask a follow up question and jot down both the information and the student's name in the square provided. For an added incentive, you can make it a competition and have students try to either fill in as many squares as possible in a specific time limit!
For a follow-up activity, students can share out what they learned about their classmates' summers as well as share their own information.
