Fraction Booklet:
This printable mini-book is a great resource for students to learn the basic concepts of fractions. It would also be a great shared reading.

Nume et Dénume go on an adventure around town to discover the
importance of fractions having equal parts. It is an adorable
story to introduce the fraction unit in your classroom.

Matching game:
You can print these onto cardstock for long-term use. I have
included back covers that you can print on the other side of the fraction cards if you wish. You can introduce this game by having all the cards face up, so that it is easy to find the matches. After a few whole group practise rounds, you can use this game as a centre. You can also place the cards facedown to add a fun
challenge to the game.

Bingo
Bingo is a great game to play to reinforce learning. There are two versions of cards. One version is pictures of fraction circles, and the other version is the numerical notation. Cut out the calling cards and put them into a bowl of baggie, and call out the fraction. The first person to get a line, or full card and yell BINGO is the
winner. Once the student has yelled bingo, have the student
pronounce all of the fractions on their card. It is a great way to
practise and also evaluate their learning.

Design a background iPad Activity and Worksheet
There are pictures of iPads divided into equal parts. This activity is great to practise one half in many different ways. The worksheet gives students an opportunity to practise reading and interpreting basic fractions.

La Chasse au fromage Game
Cut out the mice and use them as the players for the game. Cut out all the game cards, and place them in a pile next to the game board. You can choose to use as many or as little as you see fit for your class. Each player takes a card and advances or reverses to the nearest fraction space indicated on the card. There are also trap cards. If a student gets a trap card, they lose a turn. The students take turns drawing cards until one player reaches the end and gets the cheese. I have also included cheese cutouts that you can use when playing multiple rounds of the game. When a player reaches the cheese, they get a cheese card and go back to start and continue once again to follow the path to the cheese. The other players continue along the path and the player with the most cheese pieces after an agreed about time limit is the winner.

Fraction Worksheet
This is an excellent resource to use for a diagnostic or formative assessment on comparing the size of different fractions.
