This set of French Fries literacy center activities includes French fry shaped cards with words and pictures that are focused on the most common consonant blends and digraphs. The set includes initial and final placement of sh, ch and th, and there are 18 word cards for each digraph. There are six cards per blend for the following common consonant blends: st, bl, dr, fl, cl, tr, sn, gr, fr and cr. There are six cards for wh, as well. Also included are six blank cards for customizing words for your students.
The cards can be stored in fast food French fry boxes (or plastic restaurant-style baskets) and used in different ways. Two or more blends can be stored in a single box for a word sort activity. Students can sort, then read and write the words. Or a single set of cards can be placed in a box. Students can begin a list of words with the six provided and then add to the list using other resources.
There are student recording pages for each blend and digraph. Students can choose words from the French fry cards, sketch their own pictures and then write sentences using the words. List paper is included, as well. Students can record the blend they are working with and then list words that contain the blend.
These are the ideal French fries: fat-free, calorie-free, low sodium and educational!
