This is a fun way to teach the idea that ten ones equal a group of 10, and a 2 digit number is a group of ten plus ones.
You'll create French Fry holders and have students bundle together French Fries (straws) into a group of 10.Then they will put each group of 10 into a French fry holder. Students will be asked to count by groups of 10 on their math station cards.

Next, you'll create a File Folder Game to teach your kids the idea that a 2 digit number is a group of 10 plus ones.

The group of 10 french Fries is already printed on the file folder game. Students will add French Fries to the french fry holders you create to make a two digit number. For example, students would add 6 French fries to the French Fry holder to make 16.

There are 8 worksheets for reinforcing the idea that a two digit number is a group of 10 plus ones.
