My students have loved creating these little booklets.
This is a creative way to give students who are beginning to learn a new language an element of choice in writing.
Students must create sentences using one word from the first column, then one from the second column, and one from the third.
This way, students can create all kinds of different sentences while using the correct sentence structures/new vocabulary.
I suggest that students use different coloured crayons to scratch out words that they have already used. This ensures they use all words in the bank. For example: After writing: "Voici un bonbon rouge." , student would scratch out "Voici", "un bonbon", and "rouge" in a blue crayon.
Students love that they get to be the illustrators for this project. The picture they draw also helps me to assess the students' level of comprehension.
I have students practice reading their booklets to me, to each other, and they especially love when I send them with this to the office to share.
