(Updated Version July 27th, 2016)
Teach without the textbook! This is the second half of French One in the High School Level! Updated in 2016. This version has all of the activities I added to it last year with some corrected spelling mistakes.
Whether the need is financial and your school can’t afford new adoption of textbooks or for trying new technologies, Digital Resources have many benefits.
This course pack was originally designed because my textbooks had not been adopted for over 11 years and the classroom set had diminished to 21 books for approximately 50-60 students. With the addition of a Promethean (Smart Board) in the class, I created a digital course pack to teach French One. Inspired and lead by ACTFL’s standards and the new North Carolina Essential Standards for World Languages, chapters 1-5 reflect the exit standards for Novice Low and chapters 6-10 reflect the exit standards for Novice Mid.
Each chapter is presented as a digital workbook allowing for teacher/student input in the creation of knowledge that can be photo copied for students, projected onto a Smart Board/Promethean, uploaded to iPads, or all of the above. Each chapter will download as a student text and a separate Teacher’s Notes that include possible warm-up questions for a question bank and Performance prompts with rubrics. Some lessons in the course pack are based off already created Quizlets or YouTube Videos. These lessons, fun and 21st Century friendly, also lend themselves well to becoming “flipped” lessons if you are trying to “flip” your classroom.
