This is a fun way for students to practice or review the passe compose and the imperfect in French. The activity is magic squares. There are 9 squares or 16 squares in each grid and each contains a conjugated form of a verb in the passe compose (avoir and etre, reg and irreg past part) or imperfect in French. Below or next to the grid are 9 (or 16) subject/infinitive verb pairs. The student writes the number of the subject/verb with the correct verb form in the grid. If done correctly, each row, column, and diagonal add up to 15 for 9 square puzzles, or 34 for 16 square puzzles. There are 18 puzzles total on 10 pages.
