I use songs all the time in my French classes. In fact after the first test, the students who weren't thrilled about singing are the ones begging me for more to help them remember their grammar and vocab!
These are three songs I set to familiar tunes to help remember the verb endings for Regular -ER, -IR and -RE present tense verbs.
Included are the lyrics pages for each song with an example of a verb conjugated with its endings. There is also an audio file for each song so you can learn it to teach to your class, or they can sing-along with me.
Stay tuned for more songs as I get them recorded!
-ER Verbs to the tune Old MacDonald Had a Farm
-IR Verbs to the tune Thrift Shop
-RE Verbs to the tune Hot Cross Buns
*The songs are a cappella to give maximum flexibility and so they don't sound too childish if used with older students. Please feel free to look up the karaoke tracks on YouTube and adapt to your needs when you do it with your class.
