Product Description
Ce produit est utile et efficace pour l’Immersion ainsi que pour le Français cadre/Français de base. Si un enseignant souhaite se servir de ce produit pour l’Immersion, les élèves au niveau primaire sont les apprenants visés. Idéal pour le travail individuel ou un centre littéraire (les 5 au quotidien)

This product contains:

(1) A chart of 28 common French proverbs with their English equivalents

(2) Rationale for classroom use

(3) Descriptions of 7 different activities that students of varying ages and abilities can do with French proverbs. These activities span the 4 language competencies (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and offer opportunities for differentiation within the classroom setting. Cross-curricular options are suggested, such as incorporating art, in addition to ways to integrate technology.

(4) 5 worksheets that practice both meaning of the proverb as a whole and help to reinforce individual vocabulary words. These worksheets include matching questions, fill in the blank (with and without a word bank) as well as identifying the missing word from the image in the proverb. Ideal for individual work or literacy centres (Daily 5).

(5) A colour and blackline set of arrow puzzle pieces on which the proverbs have been written. Each of the 28 puzzles in the master list is divided at its half-way point and written on an arrow puzzle piece. Teachers can print the puzzle pieces in colour on cardstock, laminate them, and cut them out. A variety of activities can stem from these puzzle pieces:

(a) Teachers give each student one piece (half of one proverb) and ask them to find their "partner". In this way, students are reading for meaning. Students can then practice pronunciation by saying their reconstituted proverb aloud.

(b) Students can use their reconstituted proverb and use it to label the illustrated proverbs done by their classmates.

(c) Teachers can use the puzzle pieces as mini posters in their classroom or for the guessing game: Proverbe de la semaine.
