These five stories (themes for the first five months of the school year) entirely in French are simpler versions of stories already for sale at Chez Nathalie. The stories are shorter: one and half pages long (instead of 3 pages) and they contain more basic vocabulary. In addition, they contain only comprehension questions and drawings. You may use this product as an exercise or an evaluation tool, since every story includes an evaluation worth 25 marks.
I used these stories for my Grade 7 Late French Immersion class in the following way:
-Read the story silently. Consult the word bank for new words.
-Read the story out loud with a partner (alternating after each sentence or paragraph).
-Read the story as a class. Teacher models some paragraphs and has student volunteers read.
-Ask questions orally to ensure comprehension. (I sometimes use drawings on the board to explain items).
-Hand out photocopied sheet (front-comprehension questions, back-comprehension drawings).
