This lesson is for beginner students and follows a lesson on asking and accepting invitations. Through orally repeating and role playing invitations, students will learn a few ways how to respond negatively to invitations and provide a reason why not. The pictures provide hints at vocabulary meaning. Once students are comfortable with pronunciation, split the class in two and have them role play the inviter and invitee. Then, have them repeat with a neighbor. I follow this exercise with T'es Branché Level 1 textbook writing activity pg. 30 #3, listening activity pg. 29 #1, and comic strip reading pg. 43. I then show a brief Youtube video of a popular French comic.
