This is a great activity for students just beginning to formulate questions. They will get lots of practice with inversion or "est-ce que". The activity is set up as a police investigation and several students are given information on a criminal that they are looking for, i.e. hair color, plate number, nationality, where he/she has traveled. The suspects have an identity card that tells them details regarding the information above. Some of it is the same and some is different. Only one matches exactly. The police officers ask one question to each suspect at a time (they can all be moving around the room during this) and record answers. All the information is set up to be yes/no questions, but you can make it more challenging for students by having them ask information questions. Students really enjoy this activity and get excited once they begin to figure out who the criminal is.
