This is a French Oral Language program designed to keep students motivated as they progress through the language. This program can be used either to promote the acquisition of new skills or can be used as a general incentive to get your students speaking French. As students acquire new skills or a new level of French speaking they move through the "belts" until they pass the "black belt".
My students LOVE this program! They get really excited everytime they're able to check another skill off of their "list" an to see how many more they need to move to the next belt. It keeps them motivated and puts the onus on them to practice the words they know. It also give them the satifaction of earning something tangible and being able to visually track their own progress.
This program can be used in two ways: 1) Students acquire certain skills in oral French and then are promoted through the belts based on those skills. Please note, skills listed are based on the CEFR list of skills for A-1 and A-2 language learners.
2) Students are awarded points for effort in speaking French and not skill acquisition. (Ways of keeping track of points include: have a student use a class list, a poster in the classroom, Class Dojo app) When students acquire a certain number of points, they move up to the next belt.
This package includes includes a sample parent letter, a possible break down of French speaking skills students might learn in the course of a year, two sets of certificates for each belt colour (one that has skills acquired listed on it and one that does not).
