Students will have fun learning about all of the countries in the French-speaking world! This unit comprises a lot of great activities and materials for teaching students about French-speaking countries. The main items are a map activity, a cooperative-learning game, an interactive Power Point culture quiz, and an assessment. Each slide of the Power Point has an image, a question and three possible answers. If the wrong answer is clicked a voltage sound like an electric shock is heard. If the correct answer is clicked, a chime sound is heard, the answer changes color to a pleasing pink, and a check mark appears. This Power Point can be done in pairs if enough computers are available, or as a whole-class activity. Each question slide is followed by a slide containg images and a brief note about the previous country. There is also a link to a cute video. Alternatively, if you have Turning Point (audience response system), I have included a Turning Point version of the culture quiz. The afore-mentioned game comprises 26 pages, each page has some information at the top, and ten questions below. Students each get one of the sheets and they interact with each other to share the information they have and find the answers to their questions. The game helps prepare the students for the Power Point culture quiz. Before the students engage in the game, there is a map activity where they locate and label all of the French-speaking countries in the world. Also included is a study sheet and a matching quiz. Lesson plans are also included. This unit can be used for sub days as well. Please note: the materials (game, culture quiz, facts) are in French, not English. Please note as well that the map activity should be printed on 11X17 paper; if you're printing to a copier, you can just put the 11X17 paper in the bypass tray.
