Here is a French verb game that can be used for all French levels! Following the rules for snakes and ladders, “les serpents et les flèches” has 8 different game boards that can be used again and again. Each board is different and with “infinitives” written on each board space the teacher gets to choose what verb tenses are to be used for the game. Choose to use identical boards in your class or do random distribution of the various boards to different groups of students.
You will need one die for each group of students playing. Use different coloured pieces of construction paper as “men” to move around the board.
One class you can play the game using “le présent” and the next it could be “le passé du conditionnel”! If you wish students to “write down their answers” as they move around the board, just have them do so on a separate sheet of paper, otherwise the game is great “oral practice” of all verb tenses. Students go “up” when they land on the square at the bottom of the arrow and slide down when they land on the square with the snake’s head.
A special thanks goes out to Krista Wallden of Creative Clips, Gramma Elliott Educational Tools and the TLC Shop for helping to make my game boards look so much better!
