French Vocabulary Karuta is a competitive card game based on the traditional Japanese card game called "One Hundred Poets Karuta". The traditional game is often used when teaching the Japanese language, as it strengthens memory, listening, hand-eye coordination and speed translation skills. The same can be said for French Vocabulary Karuta. Utilizing words and phrases commonly used when teaching French as a second language, players must continually memorize all of the cards on the field and carefully listen for the correct card to be read. In total there are 90 different words and phrases included in this edition.

This game is usually played with a minimum of 3 people (1 reader, and two players), but can easily be played alone with a recorded "Reader", reading the cards.
