This “France matching game” is played in groups of about 5 students and can be played as a shorter or longer game. There are 121 pairs of “France” related picture cards to choose from. Vocabulary is written on each card to help with “cultural” vocabulary development. There are so many different things you can do with this set of pictures!! In addition to the pictures are several slides written in French to give a small bit of information about each picture.
Cultural pictures include a variety of tourist sites or monuments in and around France giving a sampling of the 18 regions. General focus pictures are also included to cover some regional food items. Asking students to read the name of the card out loud when it is their turn also promotes French oral work. More advanced students can also be asked to add a detail about the culture card that is chosen with each game turn.
All cards are put face down on the table and each student takes a turn to flip over 2 cards. If the 2 cards are identical they get to try again. If not, it is the next student’s turn. The goal is to get as many pairs as possible.
NOTE: These cards can also be the starting point to an on-line research project focusing on these sites. OR - You can divide the game up and choose only the cards you wish to use. There are enough cards to easily make 2 games out of this product.
This game can be played with beginner or more advanced French language students.
