I print these single-sided. We work through the book as a class. First we review the target sound. Second we brainstorm words with the target sound. Students choose 5 words to write into their booklets and illustrate if applicable (vowels). Later in the year students choose 5 brainstormed words and the remainder they must find in a personal dictionary or by reading the room. However, they must be able to read every word they choose! On the blank facing page we glue a craft we have made that contains the target sound (i.e. /ch/ chat). The target sounds are in the order that I teach them.
Booklet #3 is used in Term 3 and contains the sounds: c-doux, g-doux, gn, il/ille, eil/eille, ail/aille, ouille, un, oe, oin, ain, aim, ein, er/ez, e=è, et=è, ai=é, tion, ph, y=ii, gu, geo/gea
