This French play is based on the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. It includes illustrations of the story that can be used to create a book of the play. This play is most suited for French immersion students in grades 1-3 and for core French students in grade 3.
It uses many high frequency words. It can be used for many lessons as students read it, become familiar with the vocabulary, and practice it in groups. The play also provides a simple and familiar subject about which to orally ask students questions in order to practice answering in full sentences orally.
The play can be presented to parents, and even tied in with art by having students paint scenery to accompany the presentation. In addition, you may wish to have students write invitations to parents and administration.
The reading and writing activities include drawing activities, reading activities where students must select the correct word to complete a sentence, activities where students must put the words of a sentence in order, and written questions. The written questions start by introducing students to 'qui' questions and gradually introduce other types of questions, reviewing along the way. The activities are 'levelled' as indicated by the pictures. Activities of the same level (for example, those with the picture of Petit Bouc Bourru) can be grouped together and students can 'graduate' from one animal to the next without being overwhelmed with all types of questions at once.
