I write my own texts for reading comprehension because I find that the ones in textbooks are either too easy or too hard. I write texts that are meant for students that are learning French as a second or third language. The vocabulary and grammar used is based on the FSL expectations.
In this text I use reflexive verbs, food vocabulary, action verbs, irregular verbs, telling time in French vocabulary and many other concepts that students are supposed to learn in FSL.
The text comes with 22 questions comprehension questions.
I use this at the end of a unit or at the beginning to review what they've learned.
To make it more personal, change all the names in the story to the names of students in your class.
