This handout offers pre-listening, listening, and post-listening activities to go with the song JE SERAI LA by TERI MOISE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WUawRHfiu0
This slow, short song is easy to understand and the chorus sticks in your head, helping you remember the futur simple. The song is a touching tribute from a mother to her son. In the song, she tells her son all of the things she wishes for him. I've had students memorize this song on their own and I've also had students moved to tears when we listen.
Pre-listening: Students listen to the first few seconds of the song and are asked to tell whether they think the song is optimistic or pessimistic. Then they are given a small wordbox with new vocab from the song and asked to look through the whole song and list words with a positive and a negative connotation in a T chart.
Listening: Students fill out a cloze passage where I've removed many of the verbs--futur simple, present, and passé composé.
Post-listening: Students are given four pictures and asked to choose the pic that matches the theme of the song. Students are asked to tell who they think the singer is singing to and then explain what she wants for this person.
