MadameJeFaisTout offers this lesson for any age, truly, though the more knowledge of French the students have, the better the chances are that the student group will be able to ID the text messages in their coded form. This handout comes with a student version (left blank) and a teacher version (filled out). It also includes a lesson and cheat-sheet on how texts are formed. Of course, every lesson on the ever-changing world of texting is to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's a fun activity to engage students in thinking about language in a different way. This can be done as a group, in small-groups, as a competition among partners, etc.
