My middle school students are learning beginning French. As a cross-curricular link, I spent a day teaching the French words that we have adopted into our language. There are some basic spelling rules that students should be aware of and a list of words that follow each rule. At the bottom of the page, I refer to the students doing a Frayer model about one word on the list which consists of a definition, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, sentence and picture. My students were able to do this lesson from beginning to end in an hour. They had fun, and they were excited to post their words on a Word Wall in their French room. Please take a copy of the example I made for this project for free so you can show it to the class.
