This chant is used to teach children the key concepts and academic vocabulary associated with friction. The teacher reads the top line, and the children respond by reading the bottom line. Teach the pattern and rhythm of the chant first. Then, focus on the content and vocabulary. On this download, you will get a copy of the chant that you can reproduce for individual students. You can teach the chant whole group with students having their own copies, or you can make a chart to hang and display. When making the chart, make sure to use two different colored markers: one color for the teacher's lines and one color for the students' lines. This chant is also great to use with partner reads. Students can also add their own illustrations on their individual copies to show their understanding and mastery of the concept.
