This is a discovery lab used for grades 2,3,4, or 5. It gives students a link between the physical properties of matter and the matters' levels of friction. Students will put items on a homemade inclined plane and lift that plane until the item moves. Students will then measure how high the inclined plane was before movement occured. When did the friction lose its force? Easy to do..lots of fun for students. Supplies are very easy to gather. You will be pleased with the learning, the data collecting, and the analysis. A set of seven cards at the conclusion of the activity will evaluate students' awareness of friction in their daily lives.
