PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

It’s a building challenge as your students try to figure out how to make it all work with limited materials choices and a solid math application after . . .

Scaling Skyscrapers was a fantastic introduction to scale for my advanced 4th grade students—both fun and mind-bending. 5th and 6th graders should be right on target with this one as well. Let’s tackle the Common Core in ways that will help students internalize and personalize standards!

In this lesson, you get all the instructions and explanations to take your students through a couple hours of hands-on applied math activities, a template for calculating the scale of a skyscraper, photos of skyscrapers that you may use or display in your classroom, an extension lesson including a short-constructed response similar to what you might see on a standardized test, and sample photos of student work.
