Friendly Freddy (from my Friendly Freddy Friendship Fix it series) is here to guide your elementary students towards thinking about how their behavior impacts others from a social perspective! Great for social language or social skills groups and sessions! What thought processes children go through as they decide who they'd like to have as a friend? The goal of this packet is to improve perspective taking abilities of your students that are lacking in this area. You will receive a 3 step activity packet that includes the following items in both color AND black and white:
An 11-page teaching story in color and black and white,
4 pages (color and black and white) of visuals showing students engaging in friendly and unfriendly behaviors,
2 black and white activities to help students make connections.
Also included are directions and questions with an answer key to help you facilitate a conversation with your students about how Freddy chose his friend from two boys, Sam and Ben. Sam is friendly, smiles and uses kind words. Freddy feels safe around Sam. Ben can be fun but he frowns a lot and uses unfriendly words with others. He sometimes uses his hands for unusual activities like hitting. Freddy feels worried around Ben. Who does Freddy choose for a friend?
This packet will work for individual and/or group sessions led by a Speech Pathologist, Classroom teacher, Special Education teacher or School Counselor. Parents might find it helpful to use with children who are exhibiting negative behaviors that are affecting their ability to make or keep friends.
