Empathy is one of the most important skills a person can develop. Using the Design Thinking Process and only recycled materials students will create a product that will help a friend in some area of their life, brainstorm ideas to fix that problem, create a prototype of the best idea, test it out and make changes. Students will gather evidence to turn in for all parts of the Design Thinking Process.
The teacher will guide the students through the process, helping them to:
*Define the problem
*Develop a prototype
*Test the solution and redesign based on feedback
*Reflect on the project as a whole
Throughout the process, students will gain the strategies to develop empathy.
The project is naturally differentiated for students and can be used at any level. Students are encouraged to be caring community members, critical thinkers, creators, mindful reflectors and 21st-century learners.
