This activity can be incorporated into a anti-bullying lesson, or can simply be done to promote acceptance and friendship in the classroom.
I did this activity with my students as an extension activity to the book, Enemy Pie, by Derek Munson. Just as the father of the narrator uses a secret recipe in the text to create an "enemy pie," students are to create their own recipe for a "friendship pie." Students will first discuss and build off of their knowledge of recipe cards and common recipe and measurement terms, and will then be asked to consider characteristics they might seek in a true friend. These characteristics will serve as ingredients for their "friendship pie" recipes.
