This fun friendship unit is used on my second week of guided reading instruction. The theme for the week is FRIENDSHIP AND BUILDING CHARACTER and the focus reading strategies is RETELLING the beginning, middle, and end. Each day a different story will focus on retelling activities. The featured stories for this week are Peanut Butter & Cupcake, Chester's Way, Nugget & Fang, Do Unto Otters, and Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. Each day a different story is read and will focus on character and setting activities. The stories used in this unit are David Goes to School, Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, The Recess Queen, & Miss Nelson is Missing. This unit includes daily lesson plans, posters, parent connect letter, an original strategy song, comprehension strategies, literacy connections, extension activities, sort activities, and crafts.
