I am selling the vocabulary I use with the Jean Craighead George novel, Frightful's Mountain. I am not a huge fan of teaching vocabulary just to teach it, and I find that this activity works well. There are many content-specific terms relating to falcons that, if not understood, would make a read of the novel very confusing! I let the students play detective by inferring or "guessing" what the meaning of the word is based on context-clues. After reading, they then look up the actual definition of the word. A fun and functional way to incorporate vocabulary instruction.
