Product Description
Comprehension Questions and Vocabulary resources for an interactive notebook! Perfect for : Literature Circles, Whole Class Novels, or pushing Independent Reading!

Pushing Students To Connect With The Text For Deeper Comprehension.

This resource was designed to help my own students go deeper with their understanding of our in class novels we would read in groups or read-aloud. I designed 5 questions for each chapter that require the student to connect different parts of the text, see the author's purpose, evaluate character motivations, and so much more! Rather than give my students a bunch of "recall" questions that didn't not get them thinking about the text, I wanted them to go deeper with just 5.

I have used this resource as a book club and had students work independently and then come together to compare answers.

I have also used this when I read this book out loud to my own class and had them answer questions after each chapter in their reader notebook to keep them accountable and connected to the text. We would then partner talk about our answers later in the week.

Another great use for this resource is for your advanced friends who read at a higher level than your other groups. This could push them reading and allow for some discussion and accountability on their thinking.

Each chapter requires the student to create a question they had about their reading, answer 5 questions from the text, and summarize the chapter!

Included In This Resource
*Chapter Comprehension Questions for Interactive Notebooks or binders
*A book review prompt for the final assessment
*Optional teacher rubric to grade the notebooks
*Optional teacher form to record student meetings each week

Many of the questions asked in this resource are designed to get students to think past a quick, easy to find answer in the text. This resource is designed to slow the reader down and get the student to think about the text and connections they can make. There are some answers that will vary because each reader will interpret the questions slightly differently. There may not even be a “right” answer every time, though in the answer key I put general things to look for or expect from the responses!
