This is a fun novel study for Andrew Clements much-loved book, Frindle. The book has 15 chapters and there are activities to go with each chapter. Each section contains practice with an intermediate grade level literacy skill, comprehension questions for that chapter, and a place for students to record the "new and intersting words" that they find...great if you are using Daily 5 and Cafe. It includes the following skills:
*figurative language (idioms)
*connecting with the text
*writing responses to literature
*main idea and details
*informational (news article) writing
*cause and effect
*compare and contrast
The pages are designed to be printed as 2-sided (starting with page 2) so that your students have a comprehension and a literacy skill for each chapter.
Hope you enjoy teaching Frindle as much as I do and that these lessons make your planning a little simpler!
