This set of activities was created to provide students with multiple, engaging, hands on opportunities to learn and practice math and Literacy concepts as well as Vocabulary Words through the study of the Life Cycle of a Frog in the Spanish Language. Activities are aligned to Common Core Learning Standards.
Frog Facts Cut & Glue: In this activity, students read facts about Frogs Life Cycle and cut and glue the corresponding picture.
Parts of a Frog Cut and Glue: In this independent activity, students cut, sort and glue the parts of the body of a Frog.
Frog Life Cycle Puzzles: This activity could be used both as independent and/or Centers. Students arrange the puzzle pieces to form the Life Cycle of a frog. Six versions included: 4 different color puzzles to used in Centers and 2 B&W to work as independent activities.
Life Cycle of a Frog Mini Book: In this mini book students use transitional words (Primero, Luego, Después, Finalmente) to write the different stages of the life cycle of a frog. 2 versions: 1 with pictures to color and write and one blank for students to draw, color and write.
Frog Observation Journal: In this journal, students write and draw their observations through the stages of the Frog Metamorphosis. Make as many copies as you like.
Tic Tac Toe Board Game: This activity could be used as an independent and/or Centers. Students take turns to cover the pictures. The student that makes a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line of 3, wins the game.
Frog Life Cycle Dominoes: This is a Centers/Small group activity. Each player gets 5 domino cards. The rest of the cards are place face down in the table. The first player place any domino card face up in the center of the table. The next player, have to find a matching card to add. If so, he/she places it on the table next to the other card. If not, they take a new card for the center pile. If a match is made, it can be played. If not, the turn is over and it’s the next player’s turn. The player without any domino cards, wins he game!
Memory Game/ Find the Match: Students can use the cards to play the traditional Memory Game or to Find the Match by going around the classroom to find another person with the same card.
Count & Compare:In this independent activity, students count and compare in Spanish.
Make Ten: In this independent activity, students use the ten frames to complete it and write the addition number sentence in Spanish.
Addition and Subtraction Number Puzzle: This activity can be used both as an independent and/or Center Activity. Students need to solve the equations, cut and order the puzzle pieces to find the hidden picture.
Life Cycle Wheel: Different versions for differentiation.
Writing Prompt: For opinion writing.
All activities are great for visual, tactile and kinesthetic learners.
