The table of contents helps you know the purpose of each page. It is by no means the only use for the things that I create. We all know that teachers can take a little and create the world. You can see the entire table of contents before you purchase the product.
I have created a large and small 100 day count (which is for those schools that count up or down to the first 100 days of the school year). Some teachers do not have much wall space, the little count is for you. I use a pocket chart for mine because I like to move my class around several times a year and I don’t have to untape and retape all of those numbers to 100.
I have included two “Word Wall” pages - one in manuscript with the stick/ball “a” and one without and in two different colors. You will have a choice.
I made the reading and math vocabulary labels in 3 colors and the subject area labels in the same 3 colors. This is so you not only have a choice of colors but you might want to change them out at mid year for a different look. I could not possibly pick everyone’s favorite color on the first try. I was not trying to use up pages by repeating these few pages 3 times. I could have just put in one and still had over 100 pages in the book. The subject area labels will fit on boxes, plastic containers, or the 3 drawer units you can buy at several local stores. I prefer the 3-drawer units. They stack and will hold a sheet of paper. See the picture below.
The accents can go on bulletin boards, on charts, in chart pockets, on word walls, as decorations on walls or hang from the ceiling. You’re a teacher! You can think of lots of things to do with them. In the first few books I was putting bulletin board captions but it is much easier to punch them out with the Ellis Machine and it saves a ton of colored ink. In some books, I did suggest some bulletin board titles with some accents.
You can not type directly on the downloaded file. I purchase the license for the clipart that I use in the products at my store. Each license for the clip art stipulates that the clipart must be in a file that can not be copied or manipulated. That’s why all the files are PDF not Word Documents. Also, I work on an Apple computer and use Appleworks Draw to create all of my documents.
Print out the paper and use it like the colored stationery that you buy at the store. Be sure you put the printed paper back in the printer the correct way. Run a test page. I have a post-it taped to the printer at school that says: “Put stationery in the printer face down with the top here.” All printers are different.
For your desk tags, name tags, lunch choice cards, girl/boy list, etc : type the name where you think it should be in a Word document: Print it on plain paper: Hold it up to the printed desk tag and see how far off you are: adjust it: repeat the process until it is perfect.
SAVE THIS DOCUMENT AS DESKTAG TEMPLATE ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR NEXT YEAR.
Type and print all of your students names. Do this for each page where you need to print on the paper from my product.
The blank cards can be used for games or learning centers.
Some of the Everything Books have Job Charts. You can put the labels on library pocket charts, you can glue them on poster board and put the student names on clothespins or use pocket charts.
I hope this helps those beginning teachers that needed guidance. I know most teachers that have set up there classroom after the first year will know what to do with the materials in the book.
Have a wonderful school year.
As I created this packet of back to school “EVERYTHING” it made me sad to know that I have been retired a month and I already miss school. Making name tags, putting numbers on cubbies, labeling the room is always exciting. Getting ready for your next class is chaotic at the best of times. I am thinking of all the meetings, conferences with first time parents, open house, assisting new teachers to your grade level, lesson plans, new textbook series, and the first day of school.
I tried to think of positively everything I needed to make my room come alive for the students when they walk in the door that very first time. I think this packet has it all. If you are in the middle of getting ready and you need something that you think should be included in the packet, email me and I will try to create it and send it back to you. If you are looking for a specific theme, email me and I will put it on my list to work on this summer. If you need a different spelling for words let me know.
If you like the product click “Follow Me” at my store site and you will be emailed when I post new products.
Look for other themed sets coming soon: I Love Dr. S., Apples, Seashore, Pirates, Super Kids, Fall, Zoo Animals, Racing, Rain Forest, Chameleons, and Space.
