In this hands on activity, students work in pairs or groups to count and sort frogs into a certain number of ponds, and determine if they divide equally. They they then write the division equation with remainders--if there is one. They record their information on the chart. I call this a "game" to my students and they have so much fun with it they don't even realize it's not about winning! :)
This game/activity is appropriate for students learning about division and equal groups. I used this as enrichment with my 2nd graders to support the multiplication/division chapter in Singapore Math and they loved it!
This download includes: directions, printable frog ponds, remainder pond, and recording sheet. All you need of your own are dice and counters--I use tiny plastic frogs but any counters can be used as frogs! :)
