I would like to thank you for buying my resource: From Cave Painting to Emoji Close Reading Activity. This activity is meant to be used with the magazine article Cave Painting to Emoji which is used with the 4th grade K12 curriculum. If one does not have the article the worksheet below can be used when looking at most articles which cover the idea of the history of communication.

It is four pages which covers the forms of communication from early pictographs, to current emojis. It covers the whole history of communications and involves students in answering questions and drawing pictures. This is a fun close reading activity to do with upper elementary schoolers.
