This project drives student interest in early Atlantic explorers and navigational tools by comparing their experiences at sea with ours today on cruise ships. Students will start by playing a game called "Shipwrecked!" Next they will complete 4 parts of this project - learning about the compass, purposes of Atlantic travel, important early explorers, and shipbuilding techniques. This will result in an end presentation from each group that will answer the Driving Question.
