This project based learning project drives student interest in early Atlantic explorers and navigational tools by comparing their experiences at sea with ours today on cruise ships. Students will start by playing a game called "Shipwrecked!" Next they will complete 4 parts of this project - learning about the compass, purposes of Atlantic travel, important early explorers, and shipbuilding techniques. This will result in an end presentation from each group that will answer the Driving Question.
