Why fight Hollywood? That's my response to students wanting to "cheat" and watch the movie instead of reading the book. So I offer this opportunity for my students to read the book AND watch the movie. The chart has students engaged in the text as well as the screen as they look for elements of character development, symbolism, literary devices (yes! these do exist in film!), setting, and much more. And their final conclusion will always be the same: the book was so much better!
