This is a wonderful song with a beautiful video that can be found on YouTube. The song would be great to pair with a unit on Guatemala or a unit on jobs/careers. Otherwise make it it’s own mini-lesson with these lesson goals:
-I can identify and understand words to a Spanish song. (Interpretive Reading/Listening)
-I can understand biographical information that I read or hear about someone. (Interpretive Reading/Listening)
-I can present information that I learned in class. (Presentational Speaking)
-I can have a conversation to ask or express opinions on a topic. (Interpersonal)
You can do all activities in 1-2 class periods, or if you are incorporating the song into another lesson, follow this plan:
Day 1 and 2: ¡A escuchar! Listen to the song and have students do the cloze activity
Day 3: ¡A mirar! Watch video and match up the names with their career
Day 4: ¡A mirar! Watch video, have students talk about what they think of the song and the video.
Day 5: ¡A investigar! y ¡A presentar! Watch video, have students go to http://guatemorfosis.com/ They will then read or listen to information given about the people shown in the video and prepare informal presentations about their person to share with their classmates. As they present the teacher can project the ¡A presentar! Slide to help students organize their presentation.
