This bundle includes my "Fruit and Vegetable Colors Non-Fiction Differentiated Guided Reading and Response" and "Color Words: Posters, Activities, Writing, and Flip Books" at a discounted price!
The guided reading books are shown in color, but do print nicely in grayscale.
My "Fruit and Vegetable Colors" Non-Fiction Differentiated Guided Reading Books and Reading Response packet offers six guided reading books beginning at a "aa" level, with each book increasing slightly in difficulty. Each page contains real photographs to support the text. These are designed for kindergarten, but can be used with first grade. This pack focuses on reinforcing color words and identifying details. "Fruit Colors" Level 3 also includes fun facts about different types of fruit!
Also included are nine reading response and extension activities:
"Vegetable Colors" Main Idea and Details Graphic Organizer- Given the main idea, students will draw details from the text to support the main idea.
My Favorite Vegetable Opinion Writing- Students will draw a picture of their favorite vegetable and write a sentence to tell why it is their favorite.
My Least Favorite Vegetable Opinion Writing- Students will draw a picture of their least favorite vegetable and write a sentence to tell why they do not like it.
Vegetable Color Sort- Students will cut and paste pictures of vegetables under the correct color word.
"Fruit Colors" Main Idea and Details Graphic Organizer- Given the main idea, students will draw details from the text to support the main idea.
My Favorite Fruit Opinion Writing- Students will draw a picture of their favorite vegetable and write a sentence to tell why it is their favorite.
Draw and Write Fruit Facts- Students will draw a fruit from the text and write a fact they learned. Students will draw another fruit and write a fact they know.
Fruit Colors- Students will trace the name of the fruit and write its color. (2 pages)
To assemble the books:
Make single sided copies, cut in half, stack in order of page number, and staple.
Or to save time...
Make single sided copies of each page, keep the pages in a stack and fold in half. Remove the inner pages, turn the pages so that the fold is to the right side, and stack in order of page number. Take the cover page, turn so that the fold is facing left, place the pages inside, and staple. Once you get the hang of this method, book making is a snap! I am not a fan of cutting and reordering pages.
I created my "Color Words: Posters, Activities, Writing, and Flip Books" as an introduction or reinforcement of color words, to be used in a kindergarten or first grade class.
Included in this pack:
Color Word Posters- There is one color word poster for each of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, gray, white, brown, and pink. Each poster depicts the color using real photographs.
Color Word Cards- There is a set of color word cards, in both black and in color. These can be used for any number of activities. I have used them for matching games, laminated and put on a ring for students to flip through and read, displayed in our reading center for word building, stamping, etc, and in pocket chart centers.
Cut Apart and Spell- There is a set of each color word in both black line and bold black font. I laminate and cut apart each word, for use in a pocket chart center. I display either set of color word cards and students use the letters to match and spell each color word. You may color in the black line set, if you wish.
Color Words Graphics Organizers- There is one graphic organizer for each color. The color word is in black line form for students to color. Around the color word are four boxes, for students to draw and label pictures for each color.
My Favorite Color- There is one page for students to draw a picture using their favorite color and lines to write a sentence to match. A slightly easier version has students draw a picture using their favorite color, trace the sentence beginning "My favorite color is…", and complete the sentence with the color word.
My Colors Flip Book- Students will create a flip book by tracing and completing a sentence for each color word, drawing a matching picture, cutting each page into strips, and having the book stapled.
My Color, Trace, and Write Flip Book- Students will create a color words flip book. Each strip practices one color. Students will color the color word, trace it, and write it.
