This is a fun game for students learning and practicing their lists of Fry Phrases. I like to use them with small groups or in centers with partners. Players take turns drawing a card and reading the sight word. If they're correct, they keep the card in front of them. If incorrect, the card goes to the bottom of the pile. If a "Flip!" card is drawn, the player “flips” over, or draws, another card from the pile to read. If a "Flap!" card is drawn, the player returns all his/her cards to the pile. (You may change that to only losing one card per "Flap!" card.) This set is fourth in a series of 24 sets of Fry Phrases fun.
Even though each game in the series is played in the same way, the children enjoy moving up to each new set of words to discover what the new “Flip!" and “Flap!" cards will be.
Check out my other sight words fun games like "Snip! Snap!" with 9 sets of game cards. And there's also the series "Zip! Zap!" which works with 24 lists of sight words.
I love using the cards as flash cards for assessment purposes.
