1000 FRY SIGHT WORDS!
Fry sight words are the most frequently used words in reading and writing. When kids are able to identify sight words, it helps them improve their reading fluency.
It is a good idea to assess students' sight word recognition at the beginning of the year to see their starting point. Then incorporate sight word practice throughout the year and continue to assess students' knowlege of the words.
It is recommended that:
•The First 100 words should be mastered by 1st grade.
•The Second 100 Words should be mastered by 2nd grade.
•The Third 100 Words should be mastered by 3rd grade.
•The remaining lists (words 301 - 1000) should be mastered in Grades 4 - 5.
This checklist contains 1000 Fry sight words, arranged in order from the first 100 words to the tenth 100 words. Each page contains 100 words. There is space to check off the words students can identify for up to 6 different test administrations.
NOTE: The thumnail views make it appear as if there are not lines between some of the rows on the checklist. Please note that is NOT the case. The formatting is consistent--it's just a little glitch with the thumbnail.
